Established
in 1990, China Motion Telecom International
Limited ("China Motion", together with
its subsidiaries, collectively referred as the
"Group") is a well-regarded
telecommunications company with strong networks
in Hong Kong and Mainland China. China Motion
has been listed on the Main Board of the Stock
Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (stock code: 989)
since 1997.
Based
on its extensive market resources and
operational experiences established over decade,
the Group has built up a solid customer base and
reputable brand names in the Hong Kong and the
China
telecommunications markets. With consistency,
innovation and commitment to market needs and
customer satisfaction, the Group has transformed
itself into a multi-faceted telecommunications
services provider. Being first an enterprise
providing paging and technical services when the
Group was founded, it has successfully extended
its services scopes into provision of innovative
and high-growth telecommunications services over
the years. Today, the
major businesses
of the Group include provision of mobile
communications services,
trunked radio services, distribution and retail
management
services.
Mobile
Communications Services
With its extensive and successful track record
in wireless business,
the Group was granted a licence for
"Mobile Virtual Network Operator"
by
the Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA)
in 2001, officially becoming one of the mobile
service providers in Hong Kong offering
mobile value-added
telecommunications services.
Branded
under "CM Mobile", the Group has
launched a range of innovative services to
satisfy the needs of different customer segments
including the frequent cross-border travellers
and business travellers between the Mainland
China and
Hong Kong
. In
2002, the Group launched the industry¡¯s first
cross-border mobile and value-added services in
Hong Kong with its "Single SIM Dual
Number" service enabling customers to
switch the mobile numbers without switching the
SIM card when crossing the border. Today, it
remains an undisputed leader in this segment
servicing the corporate business customers.
Trunked
Radio Services
The
Trunked Radio business is one of the few
licensed Public Radiocommunication Services ("PRS")
operators
in Hong Kong.
With
base stations covering majority of the key
highway and locations, its PRS service provides
a two-way PRS communication service throughout
the territories in
Hong Kong
for customers primarily in the transportation,
security service and logistic industries.
Working in conjunction with its Mainland
China
partner, it provides the only cross border PRS
communications service for customers between
Hong Kong and
Guangdong
Province
.
Distribution
and Retail Management Services
In Hong Kong, the Group operates a retail chain
marketed under the "CM Concept" brand
and positioned as 'one-stop-shop' outlets for
mobile telecommunications products and services.
With its locations throughout the territories,
"CM Concept" offers a comprehensive
range of mobile handsets and other mobile
accessories as well as distributes a broad
portfolio of post-paid mobile services and
pre-paid mobile cards for its mobile partners.
Customers would be able to choose from a range
of mobile products and services which otherwise
may not be available in other retail outlets.
In
July 2009, the
Group acquired a
Shanghai-based
retail sales and management service business,
represented the Group's first foray into the
Shanghai's value-added telecommunications
business.
The business primarily provides sales and
management services to 27 retail shops and
distributes prepaid mobile cards for one of the
major telecommunications operators
in the People
Republic of China.
This
business has transformed itself from a
traditional telecom outlets selling primarily
mobile handsets into a service-based revenue
model providing a significant improvement of the
gross margin and profitability of the Group.
Prospect
The
Group will continue to fine tune its business
model and explore new investment opportunities
to enhance its position and leadership in the
mobile and retail management service business.
